I want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers over the last few weeks.  Andrea and Abigail (the baby) are doing great.  Andrea is finally back at home resting and recovering.  It is good for both of us to be back in our own home.  We no longer have to deal with nurses and doctors waking us up every hour.  Andrea’s blood pressure is now under control, and her doctor thinks it will be back to normal soon.

Abigail is still in the hospital, and will be there for about a month or two.  She is doing great and starting to gain weight.  She has been breathing on her own since she was born.  They have turned off the supplemental oxygen to her, and she is breathing very well.  They still have the vaportherm hooked up to her, but that just helps her lungs grow better.  Abby has been spending her days under a special light to help her from getting jaundice.  So every time we see her it looks like she is getting a tan.  Her doctors have started to give her a little caffeine every morning to help stimulate her development.  Andrea and I have not yet been able to hold our little baby, but we have been able to change a few diapers already.  We have been going over to see Abby about twice a day.  Everyone at Baptist Hospital has been great on explaining everything that is going on and what they are doing.

I have put a ton of pictures online at www.davejac.net/gallery.  Feel free to check them out.  We are now starting to get our house ready for our baby.  We have to paint and put together baby furniture.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.  we will try to keep you up to date on everything that is going on.

Well, at 7.45 tonight (7/1) we found out that we may be having our baby in the morning!  Let’s just say I had to change my pants after that news.  We are waiting on some test’s that are being sent off around 4am (7/2).  So unless the tests come back with reduced levels… we are having a baby!
I will let you all know what the tests and the Doctors say in the morning.

Friday Morning…

So here it the latest.
Dr. Storck has decided to keep Andrea in the hospital until our baby is born.  The baby is looking very healthy, and they will try to keep her inside as long as possible.  But Andrea is now officially on bed rest here at the hospital.  She can get up to use the bathroom and can sit in the rocking chair, but that is about it.  Dr. Storck is going to start having blood work and ultra sounds done twice a week. They are still checking Andrea’s blood pressure and the baby’s heart rate 3 times a day.
Now it is just a waiting game.  Every day that the baby stays inside, the better.  They gave Andrea some shots to help develop the lungs.  The goal is for Andrea to get to 34 weeks (she is at 27 right now). But the doctors are happy with every extra day we get.

Thanks for everyone’s thoughts and prayers.

Andrea update

June 28th, 2007

As of 5.30pm tonight(6/27),  Andrea was admitted to Baptist Hospital here in Nashville.  Dr. Storck wanted to put her in the hospital  for observation.  Over the next 24-48 hours, they will try to figure out weather Andrea is experiencing a Lupus flair or Preeclampsia.  If it is a Lupus flair, they can treat it with medication. On the other hand, if it is Preeclampsia, the only solution is to keep Abby (the baby) in Andrea as long as possible.

So for now we wait.  I will keep you up-to-date.
