Friday Morning…

Friday, June 29th, 2007

So here it the latest.
Dr. Storck has decided to keep Andrea in the hospital until our baby is born.  The baby is looking very healthy, and they will try to keep her inside as long as possible.  But Andrea is now officially on bed rest here at the hospital.  She can get up to use the bathroom and can sit in the rocking chair, but that is about it.  Dr. Storck is going to start having blood work and ultra sounds done twice a week. They are still checking Andrea’s blood pressure and the baby’s heart rate 3 times a day.
Now it is just a waiting game.  Every day that the baby stays inside, the better.  They gave Andrea some shots to help develop the lungs.  The goal is for Andrea to get to 34 weeks (she is at 27 right now). But the doctors are happy with every extra day we get.

Thanks for everyone’s thoughts and prayers.

Andrea update

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

As of 5.30pm tonight(6/27),  Andrea was admitted to Baptist Hospital here in Nashville.  Dr. Storck wanted to put her in the hospital  for observation.  Over the next 24-48 hours, they will try to figure out weather Andrea is experiencing a Lupus flair or Preeclampsia.  If it is a Lupus flair, they can treat it with medication. On the other hand, if it is Preeclampsia, the only solution is to keep Abby (the baby) in Andrea as long as possible.

So for now we wait.  I will keep you up-to-date.

Update our Baby

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

As some of you already know, Andrea and I are expecting our first little baby at the end of September. We found out a few weeks ago that we are having a little baby girl that we are naming Abigail Rose. Everything with Abby is looking good, but we have recently found out that Andrea is experiencing the early signs of Preeclampsia. Our OBGYN (Dr. Storck) has put Andrea on modified bed rest for the rest of her pregnancy. She is going to start seeing Andrea on a weekly basis to make sure that the Preeclampsia stays in check. One of the biggest problems is that Preeclampsia has some of the same symptoms as Lupus (which Andrea was diagnosed with back in 1995). So, we are keeping a close watch on Andrea’s blood pressure at home, and Dr. Storck is checking on all the other stuff. The cure of Preeclampsia is to deliver the baby early. But since we are only at 27 weeks, Dr. Storck is going to start Andrea on some medication to help Abby’s lung development.
We will keep you posted on what is going on. Keep us in your prayers.
